Sigma has announced a new 20mm F2 DG DN full-frame lens for Sony E-mount and the L-Mount camera systems.
The 20mm is the seventh lens in their I Series of all-metal lenses designed for mirrorless camera systems such as Sony’s E-mount.
The new 20mm lens is constructed of 13 elements in 11 groups, including one ‘F’ low dispersion element, one Special low dispersion element and three aspherical elements.
Sigma’s Super Multi-Layer Coating and Nano Porous Coating (NPC) has also been used to help reduce flaring and ghosting.
Here’s a short promotional video from Sigma:
The lens is capable of smooth, quiet and high-speed AF made possible by a stepping motor, and also supports Face/Eye Detection AF and video AF.
The focus ring can be configured to work either linearly or non-linearly but only for L-Mount cameras I’m afraid.
There’s also a physical aperture ring that controls the rounded nine-blade aperture diaphragm and a focus mode switch.
The minimum focusing distance is 22cm (8.7”, an aperture range of F2 through F22, a 62mm front filter thread and a 94.5-degree angle of view.
The E-mount version measures φ70mm × 74.4mm / φ 2.8in. x 2.9in and weighs 370g / 13.1oz.
Sigma says the lens will be available to purchase for Sony E-mount and L-mount cameras starting February 25, 2022 for a suggested retail price of $699 in the US and £649 in the UK.
