Sony FX3 Overview
The Sony FX3 was announced on February 23rd, 2021. It marks the entry point to Sony’s Cinema Line of video cameras but wears Sony’s Alpha branding, it’s positioned between the Sony FX6 and the Sony a7S III.
The FX3 makes use of the same 12MP full-frame BSI-CMOS sensor that you’ll find in the a7S III and also offers the same UHD 4K capabilities, including 60p capture from the full sensor width and 4K/120p with a slight crop.
You’ll also find the same choice of bitrates and codecs from the a7S III, so you’ll get 10-bit 4:2:2 in a choice of XAVC HS (H.265) or XAVC S (H.264) with matching bitrates. It can also shoot XAVC S-I, an All-I H.264 format.
