Samyang AF 35mm F1.4 FE II Announced

Samyang (also known as Rokinon and Bowens) has announced an updated AF 35mm F1.4 FE II lens for Sony E-mount.

The second generation lens features a new optical construction that consists of 11 elements in nine groups, including two aspherical elements and two high-refractive index elements. It measures 75mm (3”) in diameter by 115mm (4.5”) in length, and weighs in at just 719g (1.6lbs).

Samyang’s Linear Stepping Motor (STM) drives the autofocus, which Samyang claims has been optimized for video shooting by minimizing both vibration and noise.

Samyang also claim that the Color Contribution Index (CCI) of this new lens has been improved over the Mk1 version.

The aperture ranges from F1.4 when shooting wide-open, all the way down to F22. There’s a nine-blade aperture diaphragm and the lens has a minimum focusing distance of 29cm (.95ft).

You’ll find a 67mm front filter thread and is weather-sealed to keep dust and moisture at bay.

Along with the aluminum focusing ring you’ll also find a Focus Hold button and a customizable switch that can be programmed in-camera with compatible Sony camera systems such as the Sony a7 IV.

The AF 35mm F1.4 FE II will cost $799.00 in the US and £636.00 in the UK. First shipments should be starting around the middle of May 2022.
