The Sigma 16-28mm F2.8 DG DN is a full-frame internal zoom lens that keeps the overall length consistent throughout the entire zoom range.
It weighs in at just 450g (15.87 oz.) in L-mount form and measures just 100.6mm in length (L-mount). This makes it considerably lighter than the Sony FE 16-35 F2.8 GM lens (B&H Photo) that weighs in at 680g (24 oz.) and is 121.6mm in length.
The lens is constructed of 11 groups and 16 elements (5 FLD and 4 aspherical elements). It has a minimum aperture of F22 and a minimum focussing distance of 25cm. There’s also a 72mm front filter thread.
The fast and quiet autofocus is driven by Sigma’s stepping motor.
The lens is constructed of lightweight materials including Thermally Stable Composite(TSC), a polycarbonate with a thermal contraction rate similar to that of aluminium.
