Sigma has announced two new lenses designed for mirrorless cameras: a 20mm F1.4 DG DN lens and a 24mm F1.4 DG DN lens for Sony E-Mount and L-Mount camera systems.
This takes Sigma’s total up to 23 lenses that have been designed specifically for mirrorless cameras. You can find all of them in my Sigma E-Mount Lenses Guide.

The Sigma 20mm F1.4 DG DN lens is constructed of 17 elements in 15 groups, including two Super-Low Dispersion (SLD) elements and three aspherical elements. The lens also features Sigma’s Nano Porous Coating (NPC) and a water and oil repellent coating.
The lens body is made from a combination of aluminum and Thermally Stable Composite (TSC). According to Sigma the lens is ‘dust- and splash-resistant.’
There’s an 11-blade rounded aperture diaphragm, a maximum aperture of F1.4 and minimum aperture of F16. The minimum focusing distance is 23cm (9.1″) and there’s a 82mm front filter thread.
The internal autofocus system is driven by Sigma’s stepping motor and Sigma says that the lens is fully compatible with Sony’s AF assist functions.
In addition to the focus ring there’s also a physical aperture ring that can be clicked or de-clicked with a dedicated switch.
You’ll also find a focus mode switch, a rear filter holder and a Manual Focus Lock (MFL) switch for disabling the focus ring.
This lens has been built with astrophotography in mind, as Sigma has included for the first time a Lens Heater Retainer to help users avoid condensation when shooting in the cold. The retainer is basically a curved lip found at the front of the lens designed to help keep lens heaters from sliding in front of the lens.
The E-mount version measures 87.8mm (3.5″) in diameter by 113.2mm in length (4.5″) and weighs in at 630g (22.2oz). The lens comes with a petal-type lens hood, front and rear lens caps, and a guide plate.
Further details and sample images are available on Sigma’s website.

The lens is constructed of 17 elements in 14 groups, including two ‘F’ Low-Dispersion (FLD) elements, one Super-Low-Dispersion (SLD) element and four aspherical elements.
Just like with the 20mm lens, Sigma uses Nano Porous Coating (NPC) and a water and oil repellent coating on the front-most lens element.
The autofocus is again driven via a stepping motor and like with the 20mm is fully compatible with Sony’s AF Assist functions.
There are lens rings for both focus and aperture control and you’ll also find a switch to click and de-click the aperture ring. A Manual Focus Lock (MFL) switch disables the focus ring after you’ve achieved focus on a subject.
There’s also an 11-blade rounded aperture diaphragm, a maximum aperture of F1.4 and minimum aperture of F16. The minimum focusing distance is 25cm (9.9″) and the lens also features a rear filter holder and a 72mm front filter thread.
The E-mount version of the 24mm lens measures 75.7mm (3″) in diameter by 97.5mm (3.8″) long and weighs in at 510g (18oz).
The lens includes a petal-type lens hood, front/rear lens caps and a guide plate.
