The Sony A6700 was announced on July 12, 2023 which is almost 4 years after its predecessor the Sony A6600 was announced on August 28 2019.
So it’s hardly surprising that there are a lot of new features in the a6700 including a new 26MP BSI CMOS APS-C sensor that can also be found in the Sony FX30.
For video shooters there’s 4K60p with no crop and 4K120p with a 1.58x crop. You can record 10-bit internally and picture profiles include S-Cinetone, S-Log3 and HLG profiles.
The AI processing unit greatly enhances its AF performance compared to the a6600, including more accurate recognition for a wider range of subjects. In addition to humans and animals that the a6600 is capable of tracking, the a6700 will recognize birds, insects, cars, trains and airplanes.
There’s a new vari-angle display and also a new more intuitive menu system with improved touch controls.
The body design also see’s improvements and now features a front control dial like you’ll find on the larger full-frame bodies.
