The latest firmware update for the Sony FX3 is now version 6.00.
Please note that updates should be installed in chronological order.
For example: When updating from Ver. 2.02 or earlier, you need to update to Ver. 2.04 or 2.05 first, and then to Ver. 6.00. Only upgrade to Ver. 6.00 after updating to Ver. 2.04 or 2.05. If you try to install Ver. 6.00 without updating to Ver. 2.04 or 2.05, an error will occur and you will not be able to update your camera.
This update is only available for memory cards. Windows and macOS versions are not provided.
v6.00 Benefits and Improvements
- Allows you to choose the exposure time (from either shutter speed or shutter angle) when shooting movies
- Allows you to add OK/NG/KEEP flags to clips during or after movie recording
- Improves the image quality when using 3D LUT software
- Adds the 709tone color mode to Picture Profile. Please set one of the Picture Profiles (PP1-PP11) to the 709tone color mode
- Allows notifications to be displayed when the latest software is available for your camera
- You can now continue shooting while transferring captured photos and videos to a smartphone or tablet

Is your firmware version later than Ver. 2.02?
- No, Ver. 2.02 or earlier:
Update to Ver. 2.04 or 2.05 first and then to Ver. 6.00 (latest).Note: The links above provide details on updating the firmware to Ver. 3.00 and also include the update program for Ver. 2.04 or 2.05. However, updating to Ver. 3.00 is not necessary, as you can upgrade directly to the latest version from Ver. 2.04 or 2.05. - Yes, Ver. 2.04 or later:

You can download the latest 6.00 firmware and install it via the Creators App providing you are already on firmware 3.0 or newer. Full details here.

Firmware Installation
The easiest way to install the latest FX3 firmware is via the Creators App. Alternatively you can download it to a memory card as shown in the below video guide.
Previous Firmware Versions
Improvements from previous firmware versions are always included in the latest firmware version. So even if you have missed a couple of firmware versions, you only ever need to install the latest version.

- Adds log shooting mode, which allows you to shoot while displaying the monitor image with your favorite LUT (Look-Up Table).
- Note: Please use the latest version of Catalyst Browse or Catalyst Prepare to apply the LUT used for monitoring during shooting to the video during editing.Cine EI: A shooting mode that allows you to shoot with two Base ISO settings that can express clear images with the maximum dynamic range and suppressed noise.
- Cine EI Quick: A shooting mode in which movies are recorded using a Base ISO, as is the case with the Cine EI mode, but the Base ISO switches automatically according to the adjusted EI value.
- Flexible ISO: A shooting mode that allows you to record S-Log material by adjusting the exposure settings including ISO sensitivity according to the shooting scene.
- Adds the main menu, which allows you to access quickly the items you need.
- Changes layout for a movie, which is information and icons overlapped pictures on the movie standby screen.
- Allows you to display a function menu by swiping upward on the monitor on the shooting standby screen.
- Allows Timecode input with the multi/micro USB terminal. You can set the timecode with the source equipment.
- Note: You will need a dedicated adapter cable, which is sold separately, to connect to the timecode source equipment.
- Adds the Monitor Flip Direction feature which can select reversed display of image and menu screens depending on how the monitor is opened and oriented.
- Improves the operational stability of the camera.
