Welcome to my lenses guide for the Sony FX30 Cinema Line camera.
Here you’ll find all you need to know about which lenses are supported including which lenses support the FX30’s breathing compensation feature.
Supported Lenses
Although the Sony FX30 has an APS-C sensor it supports both Sony APS-C and Full-Frame (FE) E-mount lenses. Lenses with other mounts can also be used with a supported adapter.
Breathing Compensation Support
Breathing Compensation corrects for the phenomenon in which the angle of view changes according to the focusing distance during movie recording.
The Sony FX30 supports breathing compensation providing a compatible lens is used (see lenses below).
In-camera breathing compensation can be enabled under: MENU → (Shooting) → [Image Quality/Rec] → [Lens Compensation] → desired setting.
Breathing compensation can also be applied in post using Sony’s Catalyst Browse and Prepare software as well as the Catalyst Prepare Plugin for Adobe Premiere Pro.
There are two official places that I’m aware of that you can check for lens breathing compensation support.
- Sony Breathing Compensation Support Website
- Sony FX30 Lens Compatibility Support Website – This is not the easiest way to check support as you need to click on the “detailed info” link for each lens to check if it says that the lens is compatible with breathing compensation.
I’ve also listed all of the lenses below that support breathing compensation with the FX30. But you may still wish to check the official links above.

Full List of Sony E-Mount Lenses
Please visit my Sony E-Mount Lenses Guide where you will find a full list of E-mount lenses including the latest firmware version for each lens.
Third Party E-Mount Lenses
There are many third-party lenses available for Sony E-mount which is what makes it such a popular system.
I’m not going to cover every single third-party E-mount lens here, but I will suggest taking a look at my Tamron E-mount Lenses Guide and my Sigma E-mount Lenses Guide.
Both Tamron and Sigma have a fantastic selection of high quality E-mount lenses that are a lot more affordable that Sony’s premium GM lenses.
