It is a coastal area in decline. It was fur, fish and timber, the NW triumvirate. Fur is dead other than some mink farms, fish is a fraction of what it was and those grand old growth forests have all been slain. There have been no replacement employments. The area lives on hopes and tries not to dwell too long on what was. Yes, there are shattered images of what once was. I'll have to get over to where the active deep water fishing boats are to show an employed segment of our local economy.
