I am very very curious about that lens, and wonder if there is ever going to be an FE GM version of it.
Can you please elaborate a little about your experience with this lens and if possible show us some pics of it attached to the A9 ?
Did it became f4 because of the adapter or you stopped it down ? Too shallow DOF at f2.8 ?

Edit: I checked your gallery for more samples of the 300mm f2.8 and they seemed to me slightly less sharp than those taken with the 200-600. Is it because of the adapter? Was this the IQ of this lens with an A-mount body ?

I will post some up from the a7iii and 300 which I have used the lea5 and 300 on more , so what am saying is that I have not tested much with the a9 and 300 yet but feel sure I can get pair to work well, it was just the lack of light that made me grab the a9 and 300, I will be testing the a9 and 500 4.5 sigma on the lea4 when weather improves

I'm keen to get an FE 300mm f/2.8 GM, too. I'd like an FE 200mm f/2 GM, too, although my yearning for that has been ameliorated by the arrival of the 70-200mm f/2.8 GM II, I admit.

I think you are at cross purposes we are talking about the a-mount 300 2.8 used on alea5 adaptor on e-mount.

Understood. I was replying to the post wondering if there might be a GM version of the 300 f/2.8 - I would rather wait for a native mount 300 than using the complicated adapter.

no problem I guess if sony did a e-mount 300 g 2.8 it would be several thousand pounds anyway, wish I could justify the 400 2.8

so as asked for by a couple of members I have added some old shots taken with the a-mount 300 g and some plus 1.4 converter with a99ii please look at the shutter times some are really slow

Very nice shots, sharp as it should be with that lens.
