First-time sightings!

Hey all, I think it would be cool to share first time sightings here. I imagine I am not the only one that gets super excited when I see a new-to-me bird or other animal. Post pics of first time sightings!

To kick it off, here is a fledgling Baltimore Oriole I saw yesterday on a walk in my neighborhood.

This was the first time I actually ever saw a beaver in person. As a Canadian, I guess it was a only a matter of time! About 5 seconds after this shot he fell through the ice because he was so chunky.

I'm totally with you on getting very excited about seeing something new and different! And great shot of the Oriole!

Update, it turns out it's actually a goldfinch i believe. Got some shots of mom coming to feed it and it's clearly not a Baltimore Oriole haha.

This is my first time good sighting of a hare believe it or not (well closer than a blur in the distance). I was in a hide though so it was around for a few minutes albeit in the grass..about 25 meters away.. just about to pour down though (ISO=5000).

This little bird is a Mallee Emu Wren. The tail on this is as long as its whole body.
And this is also on the endangered list. Many have got out to look for them and failed.
I was luck to go out 2 times in 2 weeks and seen them both times.

Got to be this Juvenile Black Redstart from a chance stop off last week. I've dipped out on Black Redstarts a few times, so to see a juvenile was a real treat. No adult birds showed either, strangely. They may have migrated away, leaving him behind.

This past Spring we were walking down our road when a stuffed animal stuck to a fence caught my eye. Of course it wasn't a stuffed animal at all. It was a newly fledged Eastern Screech Owl. That was a first for me.. and my wife, and she works with birds of prey!

Cute and ugly at the same time. Just as nature intended. (was taken with a Sony A73 and 200-600 lens).

Unfortunately these are both kinda crappy quality photos because i had to crop like crazy, but I saw two new rare (in the northeast US anyway) warlbers last weekend! Blue Winged Warbler and (what i believe to be) a Juvenile Prairie Warber

With Dragonflies being one of my favourite subjects, this first time sighting of a Common Clubtail this year was a real high. Despite the name they are very far from common, isolated to a few locations in the UK, and very rarely seen or photographed. The venue where I found this one is a known spot for them, but they are literally seen there maybe twice a year, when they have just emerged and flown up to the hill to dry out, before going back down to the river, never to be seen again

This is a Juvenile Red Footed Falcon that showed up 20 miles from home a couple of months ago. It's a rare visitor to the UK, though there are reports every year, as they seem to follow the Hobbys over on migration. This is heavily cropped, which probably shows here, where it's not so bad on Facebook. He really didn't come close, so I'm thankful for the RIV Stunning small Raptor

This is a Nobbi Dragon and I was delighted to see one.
This actually came running up and sort of said G'Day as I got close.
It wasn't too scared of me and I was able to get quite close to this little thing.
At full sized it is supposed to be about a school ruler size and this one was half this.
