A few favourites from recent trips out locally. I've not yet got close to the Shorties this year, mainly because I was hindered by a total bellend "photographer" last time out. His card is marked. I couldn't resist the Kestrel, such perfect light that day.
Lapwing (Peewit)
Mrs Kestrel with Xmas dinner
Short Eared Owl
Barn Owl (same day and place as the Shorties, it's a raptor hotspot for sure)
Young Mute Swan clearly enjoying his bathing
One of this years Grey Seal Pups. There have now been over 4000 born in a stretch of beach that runs for 3 miles. An extraordinary number.
This pup still had some umbilicus, so I would reckon was a day old or so.
Fallow Deer Buck that stopped to pose
Red Kite with a curiously absent forked tail in this shot. This was taken from at least 400ft away
Redwing. Extremely timid thrushes that migrate here for the winter. I don't see them often, though there was a flock of 50 or so on this day. This took a lot of sneaking up and some cropping after.
