Ok I have been editing old shots again and looking for correct section and obviously am aware that it sees little use for various reasons so please add your shots if you are ok with it , I will start it off and these are quite old and I do not think I have added these before

I used to be obsessed with zoos and for nearly two decades it was my primary photo subject. However, I finally got burned out. Since I only got my Sony camera this year, I cannot contribute to this thread since all my zoo shots are Canon or Nikon SLR. (I also don't have any pets). I do think this is a great idea though and I am posting here so I can follow the thread and see what others post.

In my opinion, household pets and animals which are captive in a zoo are in two very different categories...... Why not have a thread or category for pets and a separate category or thread for captive animals?

I think you are right

Good idea. Since the forum starter agrees with you and these are all zoo shots so far, maybe @spudhead wants to ask @Timothy Mayo to change the title to The Zoo Thread? Just a suggestion, take it or leave it.

Lovely shots Gary but maybe best to title this simply: "Zoo Thread" like Fred suggests . We do have the Pet Portraits Forum for pet photos, so people can post their lions and tigers in there if they are pets :) My son would love a meerkat!

Ok Tim why dont you edit the title although it will not make any difference because its confirmed what I expected no one is interested!

I haven't been to a zoo in a long, long time, and so of course never with my Sony gear.....it is something I've kinda/sorta been thinking about doing in the autumn when the weather is a lot cooler but not yet cold, as I do love the photo ops at zoos. A fun day, seeing interesting animals and shooting photos of them -- what's not to like?!

Edited now. I don’t normally like to change people titles without first asking. It’s only been a few days, I’m sure there will be a few more contributions over the coming weeks. I’ll probably make a trip to our local safari park once the school holiday period is over but don’t have anything to add right now.

Zoo trip!

And suddenly there's another thread I missed! Pics incoming then :D

Shots from my last 2 Zoo visits (in December) to Banham and Africa Alive Zoos in Norfolk, where we were members last year, but have not bothered this year as they have lots of £5 and £10 days in the year, so it's cheaper to go then :D

One of my favorite places to go to test a new lens is the local zoo. Today was a beautiful days so I grabbed the 200-600 lens and took some shots. Here are a couple of the baby Colobus Monkey that was born in December.

Very nice Gary. YWP?

I also enjoyed watching the orangutans in yesterday's visit to the zoo. The youngest is about 4 1/2 years old.

No tigers Kev? I have not visited for last 2 years, I am not too keen on some of the changes recently
Yeah, Tigers to come. Which changes. I think the Zoo itself has grown in strength.

The hotel, kiddie attractions, they ruined the tiger area, I am not sure if that has changed
