Birds Close encounter of the Peacock kind...

Last week's trip to Flamingo gardens, there was one fellow who stole the show, and it wasn't a flamingo!
I started off taking a photo of this handsome chap:

Then my wife pointed out another peacock behind me, who actually started walking right up to me rapidly like he was asking "Just who the F**** are you?" I just tried to keep up while standing my ground, a bit challenging with an effective focal length close to 50mm...

Thank you! For those curious, I used ON1 to edit, but I realized that in many cases the amount of sharpening from the two AI functions (NoNoise & TackSharp) when used together was too much sharpening and looked terrible. So I stick to NoNoise AI as my one go to denoise/sharpen tool.

Yeah the fine balance of overdoing it! I use Topaz denoise and sharpen AI. Sometimes the standard models are to heavy on the sharpening.

Well, I got my Peacock shot as I had hoped. Bonus you can see the hen in the foreground that the peacock was trying to impress with his plumage display.

Fun Fact: Did you know that Peacocks angle their feathers towards their intended target? Think of a satellite dish curved to concentrate signals towards a receiver... now look at this view of the same peacock. As the hen moved, he moved to keep himself within her field of vision and curved his plumage inwards. Maybe they think its more imposing/impressive that way? LOL

Yes and that is the secret of getting a peacock display shot, just make sure the hen is around.

The idea of turning to ensure the hen gets an eye full, yes, i guess its the seemingly common internet
human equivalent these days of displaying your Junk.....
