  1. Yes
I couldn't face the rain and wind this morning, so I waited until the skies cleared up and got to the beach around 3:30 pm. I can't remember ever being there at that time of day, and it all looked so different. There were so many people pursuing their different ways of being there. I rarely include people in my photos, but it was a different kind of day.

Very cool, I particularly like the two guys shooting the breeze over a smoke.

Great stuff.
Thanks, Dave.
Here's another one for you. I was going to try to edit out the coffee cups, phone, and crushed beer can - but those were all a part of the scene.

I really love this series. A trip to the beach looks so civilized. I wouldnt need to jostle for a space to put up my cabana!

It's still a little chilly for the cabana - about 7 degrees Celsius. Oh, and this part of the beach is an environmentally sensitive area. You're not supposed to put up chairs and tents, lay down towels, have fires, or disturb the wildlife. That doesn't stop some folks from doing those things, but it is, for the most part, civilized.

Here is the same area of the beach where all the people were in the photos above. This is just after sunrise this morning - 2 degrees celsius. No people yet.

It’s obviously rural. Very relaxing! At 6am on COOGEE beach there would be 800 people down there exercising and another 200 or so with cups of coffee sitting there waiting for sunrise.

On Thursdays and Sunday sunrise there are queues of Irish backpackers lined up to squat in large buckets of ice water for 60 seconds. Then they run down to the surf and jump in to warm up! :)

Hey, Gary,
It must be much warmer there than here. I doubt we'll see bathing suits for another six weeks. There are, of course, a few hardy souls who swim even when the air temperature dips below freezing, but we never see them in the numbers in your photo.

Super bright and harsh, contrasty light yesterday.

Enjoying the expanse at low tide.

Working out at the beach in the early morning drizzle.
It was too bad about the volleyball net in the background. By the time I got to a better viewpoint, the coach had them doing another activity.

I love the silhouette with the bright phone, and that is a beautiful landscape to illustrate the phone screen :D

What do you think of the cropping in the first two? The third shot is to give you a sense of the overall setting. Check the top left and bottom right.
