Let's see if we can start another themed thread for landscape photography. It can be a grand vista, or a tight composition (like my first post), or anything in between. Try to have it predominantly a natural scene, not a city scene. Small human elements like a barn in a country landscape are fine.

Since my only Sony lens is 200-600, I use it mainly for wildlife (doing landscape generally with a Nikon D850). However this afternoon I used my long Sony lens to reach a distant saguaro cactus at Sabino Canyon because I like the way it casts its shadow on the canyon wall.

Austinmer, NSW. Turned around and ran after this shot, this big storm started bucketing down just as we got to the car! Would have been when I first got the RIII as I only had the Tamron's for a week or so after buying it... 🙉

Do you see the two lions' heads? The Lions are about 70 km away.

These are from last fall and I think I finally settled on that they are better the way they are presented than the way they were taken

How is that 13 seconds? Is that a stacked image?

ND8 filter, no stacking. I took this photo in SEPT 2022 and I am just now reviewing, I did not take notes and I have a serious case of senior moments. I was playing with different settings and filters. I tried to upload the original DNG file but this program would not allow it. I also have a ND 64 but I believe I used the ND8 here, thus the need for a greater exposure time. I obviously used a tripod. Thanks for asking.

I think I am just amazed that none of the plants look like they have any motion blur. So I figured you had one shot for the surrounding and one for the water. Any time that I have been around creek or anything similar there has always been some airflow even if the wind is no blowing.

This is kind of a bucket list image for me. I think this would be a great image if I could get it with the cherry trees in full blossom. There always seems to be something that prevents that. Last year I was away for work when they hit peak and when I go back they were basically all gone. The year before we had a bunch of storms with high winds that wiped the flowers out. 2020 they had the fountain covered for cleaning. 2019 we had a frost a couple days into the trees flowering which killed the flowers. I am thinking it might be Saturday in which they will be at their best but forecast is calling for rain and high winds.

The difference a couple days can make. This was taken between the light rain of morning through mid-day and the heavy rain with hail and gale force winds of the early evening that ripped the flowers to shreds. Would have been nice to have been a couple hours later so that the sun would have been closer to directly behind me for this but guess will have to wait next year.

On hot days the leaves seem to flutter on my orchids when I bring the garden hose nearby. Excited near a waterfall!

I'd love to see that final image in a sunset/sunrise scenario. ✅
Nice idea it will have to wait until the next visit though. As a side note apparently this is the tarn where scenes from the Witcher Netflix series were filmed.

How far is this from your place mate?

Lol no idea what Witcher is. Only found out what Netflix was about a year ago. I've less than zero interest in it...

It’s a tall blonde blue eyed medieval super hero with far too much swagger.

I didn’t really know what it was. I did know what Netflix was though😂 I guess it would be around 3 hours for us. We usually go over to the Lake District for a week and mooch around. It’s a beautiful area.

Don’t tell that to the wife I’ll never get the remote again.😄
