Have to say these are good images Ziggy and it looks like you know what to do behind the lens.

Thanks Aussie, kind of you to say.

Australia really does have the most amazing and colourful array of birdlife of anywhere in the world. Bird photographers in Aus are spoilt rotten!!

We do and we are.

We also sadly lead the world in extinctions (among all creatures) due to habitat destruction and feral animal predation.

I was lucky to visit Australia 6 times but unfortunately it was pre digital days and I only had a Zenith. Hoping to return one day to Alice and areas up north around Kakadu for a photography holiday. Thanks for sharing

Awesome shots Ziggy.
I notice the data says 800mm. Is that a 600mm lens zoomed in using the camera?

Think I worked it out......x2 converter on a 100-400mm lens?

On the 400/2.8 Ade.
That TC works OK on the 100-400 providing you've got decent light and enough pixels on the subject.

Don't start telling me how good the 2x TC is I've just bought the 1.4x!

This would be the most I've squeezed out of the 2x. Not quite fully racked out with the A9 and 100-400, it's at f11 which the A9 copes with but the A7R III uses CDAF. The light was flat but OK and I was quite close to the bird. It was luck to have the background in the distance; nearby foliage eg would have made for a distraction.

That is a cracking photo, had I seen this I might have gone for the 2x!

Thanks.
You can always get both!

There is other photographic paraphernalia ahead of that! :p
