Back in September last year I had this hare brained idea to go on a boat trip to Havergate Island to see some hares and hopefully get them boxing. Being an island they are there in numbers and relatively easy to see. However, having to book a long way in advance means you are playing weather lottery. Today was ok to start, and outright miserable to end, but myself, my other half, Unframed Dave and his lovely wife had a reasonable day nonetheless, and we did see some soggy Leporidae.

Nice shots. Sometimes it’s nice to get shots of wildlife in the wet. They are out there whatever the weather.

Is it worth a punt kev excuse the pun ,remember i am other side of m25 ,also is there much else to occupy your time other than hares any rarietys that pop up ,although the booking in advance seems a little risky.

From speaking to the guides yesterday, September/October is best, because the massive amount of gulls has calmed down and they get lots of migrant birds. It's right between Boyton and Hollesly RSPB sites. Spoonbills breed there too. The hares are a permanent fixture.
