Last time I took pics of the dragonflies in the back yard and I discovered the hard way that the 70-300 has such a long minimum focusing distance that I was taking pictures too closely. This time I tried to improve my odds by adding a 10mm macro extension tube into the mix. Unfortunately the macro extension tube did not shorten the minimum focusing distance, but I did get better shots now that I knew the lens' limitations.
