I took my new 70 200 f4 ii along to the club for a test tonight. All shots unedited jpegs straight out of camera.

The cobweb is just a nice demonstration of handheld macro capability.

I'm pretty impressed.

Indeed, my normal squeeze is a 1935 Diana 38, series 1.

The oldest I regularly use is a Webley mk1, which is getting close to a hundred years old.

A couple of the guys in the shots above are shooting old BSA's. These would be around the early 1900s. They were turning out some reasonable scores as well.

The tyrolean stock above is from an immaculate FWB T150 from 1965.

I bought it to save space in my case when travelling. I stands up at 6" tall so fits in vertically rather than horizontal.

Most of my travelling doesn't require f2.8, so it should do quite nicely.

Yes, it will be with them. The close focus is a big attraction for damselflies, moths etc. I tested it in WEX and it was impressive, and also handles beautifully. The 2.8 is not of interest as I will never shoot at 2.8!

I do like that integrated cheek rest/riser; classy!
My dad taught me to shoot on a .22 that (I believe) dated back to the 30's or 40's, I mostly remember the smooth wood stock was like polished furniture haha.

That's the tyrolean, quite scarce here, more popular on the continent.

I like them a lot and I believe that extra point of contact helps my scores. That belief is sometimes all it takes.
