Hey Guys,
I’m thinking about trading my a7r4 for the a7r5. Would this be a good upgrade, or is there another model I should consider?
Thank you.

Solution
I did.

Some of the things that persuaded me (apart from the fun on a new camera) were:
  • Better EVF - same screen as the A1
  • Better rear screen (more resolution and twisty/turn/flip)
  • New AF system (which is really good!)
  • Faster processor
  • New menus (like the A1)
  • Lossless compressed RAW
It was a significant step up. More than the A7RII to A7RIII, for example.
Great. I’m sold. Thank you.

No 🙂

I don't have one, but I've come to the conclusion that life is too short for a lot of pondering. If you want something that you enjoy using and you can afford it, buy it.

Your dependants will get by just fine and the tax man can whistle.
Thank you Dave. I agree and am moving forward with Adarama.

Good man and you're helping the economy, give yourself a pat on the back.

The yen needs a little help.

For me you already have a great tool in the a74r, uncle Kev uses it and gets great results. If I didn`t have the A1 I guess the a75r would be my choice as well.

I got a low trade in price so I’m keeping what I have.

I loved my A7R IV, which was my first Sony FF camera, but I love my A7R V even more -- yes, there were enough significant changes (already mentioned in this thread) to persuade me and I took the leap. Very happy that I did!

I use the A7R V mostly for closeups, macros and general shots, and the A1 is my speed demon that I use primarily with wildlife.
