Good shot, I think though, that it is a F/A-18 not an F-35 (nothing to do with the photo, just me being a pedant).
You could be right, they had both there doing displays and I wasn’t sure which one this is. Both made a lot of noise and went very fast!

Yeah, it's an F/A-18E. It's a good shot though. You did well to catch the flares like that.

That’s the one, lol. Another good shot. I haven’t even seen one of these yet. I have been thinking about going to Avalon next year.

Nice!

Nice photo, seems like a super cool pilot as well, to be giving the audience a wave.

Super cool aircraft!
Zoom in for a wave from the pilot!

Nice shot and impressive aircraft. I think the RAAF has a significant force of F-35's, most of which are based at Willamtown. Have they completely replaced the RAAF's F-18's?

As far as I know there are still FA-18s in service.

All the old F/A-18A’s & B’s, which were primarily used in a fighter role, have been taken out of service. The RAAF has ordered 72 F-35A’s, which will be primarily used in a fighter role. I don’t know how many are in service at this time. They have 24 F/A-18F Super Hornets, which are primarily used in a ground attack role. They basically replaced the F-111’s even though they don’t have that capability. They also have 12 EA-18G Growler electronic attack aircraft, which are based on the Super Hornet.

Any questions?

They were awesome planes. They have one at the aviation museum here which I have actually sat in.
