Birds Little beauty and a big jump by me

So I made a big jump and bought a long prime, used (400 f2.8). I am very excited to take it out. This was one my my first backyard images making sure it all worked. Already love it.

Since you seem to be getting Hummingbirds regularly you should try some shots without the 1.4x. The inflight Allen's seemed kind of soft or at least softer than I typically see with the 100-400GM.

Thanks David appreciate the feedback. On the allens, to my eye the body / face of the bird is tack sharp. The wing blur is just part of how fast these little birds are beating their wings where even 1/4000 doesn't guarantee frozen motion. Its the 400 prime also, and I shot it without the TC a bunch this weekend as well and loved the sharpness (see pelican below)

I am very aware of what photographing hummingbirds is like as I crossed the 70 species mark this year. If you are happy with the photos that is all that really matters.
