24-240 lens as general purpose

I've done a search here and seen some good pics with this lens, but not much comment on how it compares with other general purpose lenses. At present I use a Sony RX10iv bridge camera which does 24 - 600mm f2.4-f4, but on a small sensor. I also have an A7R4 and wonder if, using crop mode, I could achieve the equivalent of 400mm with the 24-240.

For several years using a Sony A99 my workhorse lens was a Sony 24-70 2.8 CZ lens.
Now with a Sony A7riv I have invested in the Sony 24-70 2.8 GM as the adapter to use the CZ 24-70 did not give me all the capabilities.
Crop will double the lens.

I have one and have had very good luck with it. The La Ferté-Alais air museum was all shot on this lens and I would say that the color and definition are great. It is a good lens and will cover your ass for almost everything.
