Fascinating!
I think it might be lost on the consumer market though:
For still photography, you can achieve the same end result with higher megapixel count with focus stacking.
For videos, reprogrammable focus point might be interesting, but its not currently part of the post processing workflow.

Now outside of the consumer market, imagine if a drone could do 3D mapping with just a camera & lightfield lens? NASA could put this on their robots that they send to the Moon or Mars and they would be better able to "see" the terrain or obstacles. From this perspective, I see great potential.

I tink the potential needs to be developed. OTOH it could wind up like the camera whose images could have their focus changed, no market. It is interesting.
