Birds A Few Garden Birds in the Rain

It's pretty wet and miserable today so I just opened the window and grabbed a few shots from inside. Unfortunately the birds don't have that luxury especially with young offspring to feed right now. Bar a few these were mostly shot at 1/100sec which I find makes for nice rain trails whilst still netting a good number of keepers providing they keep still.

Peck Peck. This is what the boys call them and so do we now Hopefully busy feeding their young but we've yet to spot any in the garden.

Very nice Tim. I just shared these with my Sister halfway across the country. Her husband has a Leica. I think Sigma made that lens for his camera too.

Cheers Terry. Yes there's an L-mount version available as well. You can also use Sigma's teleconverters for the L-mount version, these are not supported with E-mount unfortunately.

Cheers Iain. It's a cracking lens. I put my 200-600 on briefly the other day and was reminded how much heavier it is than the Sigma. Once you get used to the lighter weight it's hard to go back to anything heavier.

I don't even think about it to be honest so I'm definitely not missing it especially with the cropping power of the A1 or A7RV. I'd probably miss it more on a smaller megapixel camera though. I do want to put together some comparison shots between the Sigma 500 and Sony 200-600, hopefully I can find the time in the next week or so.

Nice job and all we have here is the House Sparrow and the European Goldfich but that one isn't in my area.
Getting them wet like this is really for me possible is if they get in the bird bath.
I like the clarity of your shots posted, well done.

Cheers Ralph. Not much rain there recently? We’ve certainly not been lacking in the precipitation department recently. Hopefully the birds here are used to it but it’s hard on the young ones.

Cheers Gary. They are gorgeous little birds. We are lucky to see them in the garden. The sunflower hearts help though!
