Just traded up my A7II for an A7IV.
What a difference!
It was good to cut my teeth on the A7II, but ready for the upgrade.

Got into it because my cell phone cam wasn't getting it done at kid's sporting events. I've learned a lot in the past year plus.

Welcome to the Forum Henry. Similar to your experience, I started with 14 months of A7 III ownership. I really liked the A7 III but the M4 was just too compelling.

Welcome to the forums. What sporting events are you doing??? Indoors are tough, I usually end up at 8,000 iso or so. Topaz DeNoise to the rescue if I get a really nice keeper that is to be printed or on the Jumbotron.

Welcome Henry. How are you enjoying the a7 IV?

Daughter's volleyball. Nothing pro, ha ha . But I do share images with the teammates.
Indoor gyms have been challenging...cost me $$ to get sony 70-200 2.8 but its great and a huge difference.
I was nervous going over iso 2000!

This is one from tourney this weekend. Not great, but I couldn't get it with the A7ii without a lot of noise.
(I may get the denoise at some point. )

I do a lot of Travel Club Volleyball, High School VB, BB, FB,Track. Long way from NASCAR with a Nikon F2 and a motor drive, but in the pits was fun. I shoot indoors Sony A1, 70-200 GM II, at f 3.2 to get a little dof. ISO is usually 8,000 but varies between 5,000 and 10,000, usually heavy cropped in post LrC. I just batch process and use approximately 50 on LrC noise reduction. Then if they need for large print or Jumbotron I may process in Topaz DeNoise, which is awesome. I typically shoot 500-1100 frames in a 1 hour game, then cull to 100-150, post process and put on Drop Box for parents, coaches, yearbook etc.

Man, I took about 1300 frames the entire weekend and it still took me forever to get down to about 250 to share.
I'd be curious as to your work flow on culling. Its very time consuming for me.
I bet the A1 is a beast though (with the newest 70-200). Great set up.

I'm gonna try iso 8000 just for kicks this weekend and see.....
