As title never had a Tamron lens and looking for a walk about for travel that will not set me back too much, thanks guys also open to other options

I purchased the 28-200 but returned it and got a Samyang 35-150mm f/2-2.8 instead. Since then I have also purchased a used Sony 24-240mm and it works fine outside with plenty of daylight but the Samyang 35-150 spends much more time on the camera. It is great for indoor or outdoor use and I've been very happy with it. I looked at the Tamron but decided on the Samyang to save some money after seeing good reviews of it. The biggest drawback is that it is heavy. It's been worth it to me, however, as I've shot several things with it by itself when in the past I would have carried a 28-70 f/2.8 and 70-200 f/2.8 to get all the shots I wanted. I posted a thread at https://www.alphashooters.com/community/threads/samyang-35-150mm-f2-0-2-8-image-thread.8471/ with sone sample photos some months back.

I have the Tamron on my A7CR, and have found it a great general duties lens. Fairly lightweight for a FF lens with this focal range. The price you pay for that of course, is no on lens stabilisation. It tends to be the lens that lives on the camera unless I'm planning to do something like astrophotography, or wildlife/bird photography. Image quality has been quite pleasing, and the autofocus works well.

That lens sure looks sharp on the shots you linked, thanks for reply (y)

I had the 28-200. I loved it - it was fast focusing, sharp, and didn't slip when carrying. I only recently traded it in for the 50-400 as I needed the extra reach for my pictures (and I don't need the wide focus)

Sorry, 28-200. My go to, walk-around lens on my apsc cameras was the Sony 18-135. The 28-200 mimics the field of view on full frame, with the added advantage of being faster at the wide end of its range.

i also use the 28-200. I am very happy with it and use it a lot. It is very light as it does not have image stabilisation, and it can focus quite close.

Bought the Tamron 35-150 for the fast, constant F2.8, Am an 81 year old complete camera snob, first secondary lens ( except Sigma) that I have purchased. Am surprised and delighted! Rather than carry my five favorite primes, I took only the Tamron to a family reunion along with a Profoto A1 - all family member were over-joyed with the pictures. Highly recommend it as a "super zoom". While would have preferred a 24 or 28MM at bottom of range, the F2.8 wide open @ 150mm gives a very nice rear blur (hate word boca)
