These are Shy Albatross - wingspan up to 2.3m. Also known as White-capped Albatross.

Monthly pelagic cruises are run from Victoria (Aus) into the Southern Ocean where the continental shelf ends. Here's there's an upwelling of water rich in krill, squid and fish and that attracts a range of ocean birds.

Shy Albatross breed on islands off Tasmania and young birds will hunt as far afield as the Indian Ocean and South Africa.

That's a big bird! Nicely captured Ern. I love the tip of the wing just breaking the surface of the water.
 
Yes, it shows how completely at home in its environment it is.
