In February, I am for 10 days on a small 16 People catamaran in the Galapagos. Normally I take to cameras on my trips to avoid constantly changing lenses. A7RV with a macro and a 24/70mm and A9 with 200-600mm. This time, I am thinking of only bringing only my A7RV to cut down on the equipment since there will be zodiac rides every day.
Any comments from people, that have been there with the same kind of problems?
Thanks

You have a great trip ahead of you.

We went a few years back with our daughter.

One thing to bear in mind is that nothing has predators on Galapagos, so you can get incredibly close to the wildlife (within the regulation limits).

An underwater camera will be very useful you'll spend a lot of time in the sea. I have a memory of our guide taking me quite deep to get close to nurse sharks. Personally, I was happy seeing them from a distance.

I did carry two bodies one with a 70-200mm and a 150 - 600. These were during my nikon days and this trip was the one that convinced me it was too much weight to carry and I moved over to Sony with the a6600. Both lenses were equally useful. I also took a wider lens for landscapes.

For carrying cameras on the zodiacs, we use roll top rucksacks made by overboard. My thinktank rucksack was used anywhere dry. One tip here is to oil any zips before you go. It will inhibit salt build up on them, making them difficult to open. Luggage wants to be squishy, the boat accommodation is very compact .

If I think of anything else, I'll pop back.
