Maritime Carnival Cruise Ship: Elation

As seen from my cabin this weekend in Nassau, Bahamas. I was able to catch this ship as it was leaving dock to continue its journey at sunset.

Pity I couldn't frame a sun-star on the second shot, but was just glad to get the shots before it was gone.

There were 6 cruise ships in port that day, parallel parked in 3 rows (3x2), so it looked like a floating city block!
We did NOT get off the boat that day, too many people in port, it would have been a zoo...

Probably mid-sized category with around 10 decks total, not counting any storage space below the portholes. Yes, our Disney ship was bigger, but all of these modern cruise ships are a feat of engineering.

Heading north of 200,000 tonnes if not already over that for the latest ones being built.

My last one (enchanted princess) was around 160,000 tonnes or more and around or just over 1,000 metres long.

Both were tracking a similar route, my trip was October 15th Athens to Barcelona. We got caught in a storm with 4 to 6 meter waves, ship hardly moved to be fair although a few passengers got sea sick from the motion

The bay of Biscay can be rough did it last year on Anthem of the seas wife and daughter did get ill even with stability legs down

There was a large cruise ship recently got into difficulties in the Bay of Biscay, literally throwing furniture and passengers all over the place, some got injured quite badly apparently. The sea well was 6 to 9 meters if I recall.

I don’t fancy any ship in the open seas let alone the bay of Biscay or similar

my wife used the motion sickness patch all weekend, and seas were less than a meter... she wouldn't make it out alive in 6-9M conditions
