Past week my neighbourhood held its Festes de Gracia festival, where people build creative decorations in the streets, made of paper mache and recycled materials. An opportunity for taking unique pictures. But it's the most popular festivity in Barcelona, so the streets are crowded and you can't take your time to find the best compositions, becoming quite a challenge.

Lovely Alex. Sweet event! I like the fourth one best. Nice work to get a series of nice images like that mate. 👏

Thank you mate. Fourth is one of my favourites too. They transformed a narrow, dark street into a jungle and the I think the shot depicts how the decoration draws you in.

It was hard selecting just a few, though, as I took like 450 pictures during the festival haha.

Great city you live in Alex; knows how to enjoy itself. The second shot is my favorite with the suspended bird.

Thanks! That bird is from the decoration which won the first prize in the competition. It is inspired by Pixar's A bug's life movie.

Thank you Clide. It's a tradition that I love very much and since I bought the camera in January I was thinking about the picture I would take there. Happy that you folks like them.

A colorful and artistic festival, great pics, thank you for sharing!

It really is amazing what people can do with things on any ordinary day we would throw it out.
Really taken by your 1st shot, well done mate.

Yeah, it's amazing when you get closer to the decoration and realize they use cardboard boxes, newspapers, plastic bottles and taps, coffee capsules, egg cases and whatnot.

You can notice that in the third picture, the flowers in the background are in fact water bottles opened up like petals. And the hanging wisteria of the last but one are cut-out egg cases.

The first shot is from the street which won the award for best lightning. Well deserved!

The 1st shot is what made me look at more and it is to no surprise that the 1st won as they done a lot of good work on it.

Am I the only one who noticed the Wizard of Oz theme in #5?

Well spotted. Each street chooses a theme for the decoration and of course that one was The Wizard of Oz. The ceiling simulated the yellow brick road and there were sculptures of the main characters as well.
