Sony A7 + A7 II Focus question

I apologize for the simple question but I can't seem to figure out the situation below. I am trying to switch from manual focus to auto focus, using a Sony 70-200 mm lens and get the error message below any insight would be greatly appreciated

Does your lens have an AF/MF switch on it? Perhaps the switch is in the MF position and therefore the menu cannot electronically override that?

It does, but it is but it is on AF position and I did try with the switch in both directions....but thanks for the idea....

Doug check your AEL switch/button can't remember what an the 7ii.

I did check the AEL and that wasn't the problem, but thanks for the idea...

Doug, look in the cam's user manual under "focus" related sections, and go down manual's list of menu settings criteria. Then check your menu setting to troubleshoot issue. One wrong setting could be causing the problem. Usually when message is "Greyed out" or restricted, there's an obscured setting somewhere precluding your selection.
