Last Wednesday, I had the pleasure of visiting Gladhouse Reservoir, where I created a series of stunning images that I'm excited to share with you all today. The weather conditions were perfect, with frost and fog enveloping the landscape with the sun peeking through the clouds, adding an ethereal glow to the scene.
As I walked around the land around the reservoir, I couldn't help but feel a sense of peace and tranquility wash over me.
Seeing the beauty of nature is a passion of mine, and I'm thrilled to be able to share these images with you all from this most incredible day.
Image 2.
After a short while there was a lifting of the fog which left a soft feeling, I loved the colour contrast with the blue sky and the warm tones in the silver birch and foreground.
Image 3.
One thing I like about having a known tree/ composition is the feeling of curious anticipation to see how the subject looks in the environment that nature has provided.
This is another tree that I have photographed many times and seasons and lovely to see it in a cold and frosty scene.
Image 4.
As I made my way down the small hill towards the reservoir, I saw this frosty covered tree in front on the woodland and loved the contrast of the warm tones in the woodland with the cold frosty grasses and the tree's canopy.
Image 5.
As I sat by a tree eating an apple, I saw the beautiful soft glow of the sunlight burning through the fog to leave this beautiful transition of hues in the sky.
Image 6.
Gladhouse Reservoir is my sanctuary, for me this image translates its natural beauty on display as I admired the subtleness of the soft warm glow on this magnificent silver birch tree, while the luminance of the grasses behind it stand out in contrasting colours. The fog in the background adds a sense of mystery and wonder to this scene.
Image 7.
This is the image I created when I shared the video from this location.
I loved the relationship with these trees in the way I have positioned them, when I was processing the image, I felt it portrayed school teacher giving a pupil a telling off.
I would be interested to hear what you feel it portrays with you ?
Image 8.
A short time later the fog enveloped the location, it allowed me to see the sun as I framed it up above this line of trees, a chilly frost added an ethereal quality to the scene.
Image 10.
The beauty of this frost covered silver birch tree was a beautiful sight with its branches and twigs shimmering with the highlights of the frost
Image 11.
I was captivated with the contrast of the warm, sturdy branches against the delicate, icy twigs in the canopy of this beautiful tree.
Images 11 & 12.
These are the final images from what was one of my most incredible experiences in the woodland that surrounds this amazing location.
The fog rolled in again allowing me to use the sun as it began to lower, framing it up in the centre of the wonderful structure of this tree.
After I had finished photographing the wonderful collection of trees, I set off to the edge of the reservoir to see how the fog interplayed with it.
In this series of images, I wanted to share the lovely mood the fog brings with the elements in nature around the reservoir.
