I'm pretty new to Alpha camera's and pretty new to this level of photography in general, so don't expect a lot of me. Likely just gonna hang out and lurk until I feel comfortable. Glad to be here. Been using an A6100 for a year and have had some reasonably decent results but just upgraded to the A7IV. Haven't gotten a lot of shutter cycles through it yet but looking forward to some cool winter shots and maybe some animal encounters. Currently chasing squirrels around the park trying to nail down the best autofocus settings before I go hunting Moose and Elk. Hope I have some cool stuff to share soon.

Welcome and nice upgrade!
Can we assume from your screen-name that you do astrophotography too? I'd be curious to see what kind of shots you got on the a6100 since I'm pretty much locked in with the a6400 for the foreseeable future.

I am the president of the Cheyenne Astronomical Society and have had that Username since the beginning of usernames, so it's not specifically photography related. I used to be more of an Astrophotographer back when I did it on Slide film. I have; however, tried my hand at a bit of Astro with the 6100 but not stacking and such, just what I could shoot with pinpoint stars using the 10-18 F4 Sony lens. As you can see, they aren't too great but it's not the camera. Just a lack of experience. I've had a lot better luck with Sun and Moon stuff using the Sigma 150-600 Sport. I am looking at investing in an intervalometer when we get closer to summer so I can play with it and not freeze to death.

Welcome to the Forum. I'm sure you can put your A7IV to good use in Wyoming. I used to spend a lot of time in Rock Springs. Not the Garden spot of Wyoming but what the heck!

Welcome! I'm brand new here as well. I have an interest in astrophotography but no equipment yet to explore. Living in Maine I think we have pretty good night skies for it. I'll keep checking in to see how you're doing.

Take care,
Brian

Welcome to the forum Martin! Squirrels are definitely a good test of any camera, they are fast little buggers! :)
