Grabbed one of these today from Harbor Freight. SLIGHTLY smaller and lighter than the Pelican which for me is a plus. Replacement foam is $20.00 US but the foam for the Pelican is $50.00. I don't own the Sony 600mm lens but may rent one sometime. I don't now if the case will swallow that lens. I'll measure it later.

Well, I went to work on my new case today. I managed to get by with using just one of the two pick-a-part layers of foam. A Third is a thinner foam layer which is below the Pick-a-part layer. I did screw up though. I have somehow wound up with a large void near the hinged side of the case. I'm afraid it's not balanced well in this configuration. Your thoughts?

I don't know.

I looked at mine, and its tight against the case all the way around.

I took my stuff out and poked and prodded around thinking pressure from something in the middle might be pulling the edges in, but I couldn't duplicate the problem, and the fact that it happens with the lid closed is even more perplexing.

I purchased two of these cases and am more than happy with them! The 200-600 fits well in the case and there is plenty of room for other devices. Saved a considerable amount of money and

My 200-600 fits with room to spare. Was thrilled to find this case and the cost difference is a win!

has anyone tested it against the weather? $45 doesnt seem like something I would trust with $6000 of gear

It has a 1/4 inch rubber gasket around entire lid and 4 snap-latches like the Pelican; and carries an IP65 rating. Although the Chinese are not well known for their testing protocol and QA, this appears sufficiently protected from normal rain showers (if you remember to snap-close lid).

“6” --- dust tight.
“5” --- water projected in jets against the enclosure from any direction has no harmful effects.

What kind of weather test would you recommend?

I was hoping one case would hold my 200-600, 20mm, Tamron 70-180, tokina (that I'm getting rid of eventually), and have room for filters, accessories, etc. I spend a lot of time in an rv and want my gear to be safe and condensed down since there isn't much space. Has anyone found a larger version of the apache cases that would hold more gear?

Waterproof? Put some paper towels in it, close it up and spray it with a hose. Then open it up. You will have your answer.
