Thanks for allowing me to join this wonderful group, live in Japan and like to do wildlife, scenery and sports car racing photography. Picked up a A1 had Nikon’s before so looking for input on lens of course 200-600 on my list for sure!

Welcome Mike! Sorry I can't offer Full Frame lens advice, but I have to say: You live in a country which I consider to be one of the best places to photograph! I only regret that when I visited, I was new to photography and only got 1 in every 100 pictures to turn out well 😅

Welcome, I visited Japan for work shortly after the earthquake in 95. Sobering, yet marvelous experience, something I'll never forget. I still tell the stories about the geisha in the traditional Inn to this day, man could she knock the scotch back.

Have had two cancelled trips in the last two years, plan to see the snow monkeys and the dancing cranes. Scheduled again for February 2023, fingers crossed.

Totally agree only scratched the surface so far! Everyone should visit once in their lifetime!

Dave look forward to you photos from the next trip.

Welcome. I do wildlife and am using a A9 and A7riii and the 200-600mm lens and like you came from Nikon to Sony. The 200-600 is a tremendous lens, not too heavy, internal zoom and sharp wide open. Highly recommend.

Welcome to the forum Mike and thanks for joining up here. It's very difficult to go wrong with the 200-600 and once you've used it for a while you'll find external focusing lenses quite cumbersome. If you have any questions about your new gear or this forum please don't hesitate to ask.
