Hello From London Paddington

Welcome Hugh and thanks for joining up here! :) Just let us know if you have any gear questions or questions about this forum.

Thank you, Timothy, I did post a reply in regards to some recent issues I have been facing with my Sony A7RIVA, but it may have been a bit vague as I was having difficulty working out what was exactly wrong with it, I thought about it and below is what best describes it.
Should I just post it like this -

Sony A7RIVA Touch Focus just stopped working?

on my Sony A7RIVA, I have touch-focus set to on and although I can touch the screen and the curser meets my finger and follows it, it does not focus.

It did touch focus the last time I used it because I remembered using it for composing by touch and focus.

I am flummoxed, the only 2 things that I have changed on the camera were one, a firmware update from 1.0 to 1.10 and 2, last week I tried to connect my P30 Pro to the camera (This was when I realised the touch focus had stopped?) so not sure what caused it.

The camera is in mint condition, I have had it since new (just over a year ago) I am the only user and can say that it has been looked after very well, it's has had no knocks or any damage.

The touch-tracking works and will focus at any point where I touch the screen while continuously tracking that point, and yes, I have thought about touch-tracking, but it's slower and a bit clumpy compared to touch focus which I much prefer using. I tap away at the screen in touch mode, but it won't focus, it follows the finger where ever you move it, but no focus.

I reset the camera to its factory defaults, but still no touch focus.

Any help much appreciated.

Hugh

Sorry for the slow reply Hugh. There are certain focus areas where Touch to Focus won't actually work, could it be that your focus area is set to one of these areas? [Flexible Spot], [Expand Flexible Spot], [Tracking: Flexible Spot] or [Tracking: Expand Flexible Spot]. There are some further details in the online help on this topic. I hope that helps!
