How to enable x-sync on a7 iv

Hello every one
Just bought my first speed light and was searching for flash speed sync for my camera.
Saw an article explaining about extending flash speed sync up to 1/400 on a7 iv but can't find the related settings.
Does a7 iv support x-sync?
And if it does where to find the settings?
My current firmware version is 1.1, should I upgrade it?

The flash sync speed on the A7IV is 1/250. Anything faster requires HSS.

The only Sony I know that can do 1/400 sync is the A1 in mechanical shutter (1/200 with electronic shutter, and it’s the only Sony which can shoot flash with electronic shutter).

All my flash shooting is using studio strobes, so I use Manual mode, shutter on sync speed, aperture typically f/8.

With a speed light in the hot shoe, I imagine you’ll be wanting to shoot TTL - you’ll want the speed light documentation for that.
