I recently photographed a pair of Kingfishers near Market Drayton in Shropshire - I see that several other members have done the same. It is possibly the best hide in the country for kingfishers. They were diving into a small artificial pool baited with fish and returned frequently during the session. The photos taken with the 90mm lens were done with the camera mounted near the pool and triggered by remote control from the hide a short distance away. Unfortunately it was rather dull with no sunshine so most were shot at ISO 12,800, but I am very happy with the results. My particular favourite is the one with two fish in its beak.
A couple of years ago the two used to fight over territory but they eventually decided it was pointless and got married instead. They have raised two brood this year and look like producing a third.
The female has an orange lower mandible, on the male it is black.

Outstanding!

Hard to select a favourite as they're all very special. Maybe the front on one exiting the water... 🥇

Wow! Absolutely fantastic.

Cracking shots Alan! I've been to Mike's hide a couple of times, it's a beautiful place to spend a day. I was fortunate to have the place to myself too. Never got a shot of them on the sign though!
