Love these birds so much that they sit at number one of my all time favourites and this one is a female,
as there is no blue feathers just above the tail feathers.

Thanks, I wasn't aware of the male/female colour difference.
The Kookaburra is not a popular bird in Tasmania as it is said to be introduced to the state in the 1920s in an effort to control snakes. It does have an effect on native animal and birds and its numbers are increasing. I suspect a balance will occur at some point but hope that it happens prior to any other species becoming extinct.

I heard the same thing about them and as much as they are my favourite bird I still don't think they should be there.
Sadly man interfering in matters they have no idea about.
