I was walking past the Greenwich War Memorial on the 29th April and remembered it was recently ANZAC day (25 April). I stopped to pay homage to the vets. My grandad served in the British Army in both WWI (the Dardenelles) and WWII (North Africa). He never used to talk about his experiences during the war(s), but I remember every ANZAC day, he would get into his old uniform, wear his medals, march in the parade and have a few beers.
