Yarmouth evokes strong feelings amongst the British. It's love or hate, there's rarely any middle ground.

The town has a fascinating history, it's built on reclaimed land which was mainly financed by the then thriving herring industry. Later on, the railway came to to the town and tourism took over.

I don't think that anyone would argue with me, if I said that much of the town is very run down and cash is needed. There are however some gems and I will probably catch them on another walk.

Sometimes you have to search out the beauty......

The rows were once bustling alleyways, the width of a handcart leading from the town to the harbour.

Now, many are sadly neglected.

Good set of images - Yarmouth really is poor these days, I have to remember to wipe my feet when leaving 🤣 🤣 🤣

Edit: Have to say you are brave to wander around with an A1 & GM lens(es)!!!!
I would describe today's light quality as "dusty".

1 A1 and 1 lens.

I wasn't afraid, the wife was with me.

You vividly captured the atmosphere with this set. I loved taking that stroll with pictures, so thanks for sharing. My favourites are that alley with the blue bin, the woman checking shoes and the woman walking by. That lens seems about perfect for street.

It is a stonking lens, I've only had it a couple of weeks and it seems permanently attached now. I'm a real zoom fan, but I'm enjoying how this one takes me back to my origins. At school we had practika MTLs with 50mm lenses. You have to work a little to find the viewpoint. This encourages more creativity, I think.

It is big though.

Dave no photos of the Hippodrome I think its a great building been there a few times ...Gary

That will come on my "Gems" walk.

I would say, we've been forty or fifty times over the years.

One of only two remaining indoor circus buildings in the country. The other is in Blackpool.

Absolutely fascinating building and one of my recommendations to any visitors.

Indeed, a prime lenses forces you to move for a better angle and work a creative composition. It can be challenging at times but it's rewarding too. Great you're enjoying it!

Built in 1903 the way the floor disappears to reveal the water feature still amazes me today .Had a few long chats with Peter Jay the owner and his son .Also well worth paying a £1 to go below the stage were you can see all the old props dating back years also the toilets are a must to see its like stepping back in time cant wait to see your phots thanks Dave ....Gary

Nicely captured, and not a flying shitehawk in sight :)

I think I got as far as Lowestoft once ...

Lovely pictures, Dave. Enviable lens. I might aspire to the 1.4 on day --- but my unexpected-bargain-buy Sigma 50/f2 sufices for now. I haven't taken it outdoors yet, though.
