Hi Chris,
Most heavy duty macro photographers(read true macro shooters at 1:1 magnification or higher) use manual focussing for the majority of the time

I have the Meike 100mm macro and it has served me well and is very light but is only f5.6 and is manual.

My Nikon 200mm f4 nikon lens which is likewise manual focus but has a very long 1:1 minimum focusing distance.

I am curious, to those of you who use Macro lenses, do you use manual focus most of the time?
I was going to put a pre-owned Sony 30mm Macro on my wishlist, but this Meike lens made me pause on that. I will have to keep an eye out for reviews.
I prefer it, as long as it’s not an insect with the propensity to fly away before I’m ready.

I guess it depends on the subject!
