  1. Yes
A friend and former colleague of mine is now coaching at a local school so I went out to watch his team play. It's always interesting shooting in other stadiums. This one has much less room on the sidelines than the one in which I normally shoot.

It's always fun to get a series of shots of a key play. Tonight I got a shot of an interception including the quarterback's pass. Unfortunately the interception was by the opposing team.

These are actually Thursday night and not under the lights. Middle school football. I was mainly shooting to compare my Sony 100-400 GM to the 70-200 GM OSS ii with the 2x TC.

Great action series

Some Thursday night photos. I've found that the parents of the younger kids, middle school and JV, will often buy more photos. Today there were two game back to back so I was able to shoot a middle school game and then the first half of a JV game in under three hours. A few shots from the JV game.

First play of the game resulted in a touchdown run.

I'm not sure if I will shoot a game next week, but last night was the last home game for the team I shoot so here are a few more of my favorites from the game to add to this post. I took three lenses and noticed that I had favorites from each lens. I took the Samyang 135mm f/1.8 mainly to shoot the seniors in the Senior Night Ceremony at the beginning but used it some during the game as well. I always use the Sony FE 70-200 GM OSS ii and also used the Samyang 35-150mm f/2-2.8.

#9 was a workhorse all night and here he is showing that determination on a run.

Friday night I returned to shoot the team that a friend helps coach. It was a playoff game and they started off slowly, 0-0 after 1 quarter. They stopped the other team from scoring from inside the 1 yard line and ended up scoring twice to lead 14-0 at the half. They scored on the first play of the third quarter and ended up winning 44-0. I may shoot them again next week.

That last pic really needs an orchestra to accompany it. Balet on the football pitch. Brilliant catch!

Thanks. It was one of my favorite shots even though it doesn’t have the face in it. I deleted an earlier photo of the same player dropping a pass in the end zone that was right in his hands.

I did decide to shoot the 2nd round playoff game. The opponent this time upset a higher seeded team last week so that the team I shot last week got to host a game rather than travel a couple of hours away. The team in blue has one of the top offenses in the state averaging 44 points a game but also has a defense that only gave up an average of 15 points a game (and that with a 58-35 loss and 42-35 win.)

The offense struggled early and only scored 3 points with a field goal late in the game.

They found out as the game was ending that the two teams in the other side of the bracket were tied and went to overtime. The lower seeded team upset the #1 seed so the team I've been shooting will host a third round game as well. It should be a good game since it is a rematch from three weeks ago that ended with a 42-35 score.

It was another beautiful night for football last night so I shot the 3rd round playoff game. It was another close game but the home team won 21-13 to advance to the semi-finals for the first time since 1984. Here are my last set of photos for the season.

My basic workflow lately has been to use Photo Mechanic to cull and then pull the keepers into Lightroom. I then run the raw files through DxO PureRAW 3 and take a break for 10-15 minutes while it works. Then I go to the DxO folder and start editing the photos in Lightroom while DxO continues to run. For this batch it took about two hours to process the 250 photos I had kept and after rejecting some more in LR I ended up with 230 or so.

The third shot was the one that I was especially pleased with saving since my settings somehow switched to 1/1600" at f/4 so the ISO was 12,800 since that was the upper limit I set in auto ISO. It was still underexposed but DxO did pretty well at cleaning it up. Here was another shot at f/4 and 1/1250 with an ISO of 16,000. This one I also ran through Topaz DeNoise AI after editing in LR.
