So just got back from the latest cruise, I took the A1 lea-5 amount adaptor and the a-mount Zeiss 24-70 2.8 g2, and 70-200 f4 mk1. I usually take the zeiss 24-70 f4 but not this time.
So 5-6 days into the cruise the ssm motor died in the lens without any warning, the lea-5 with this lens made great images, having just updated the A1 I wonder if that caused it because I noticed the left hand side of the A1 getting hotter than normal. Anyway bye bye lens new motor fitted if you can get one around £ 700.00, well that just left me the 70-200 f4 not ideal for street shots. here are a few images from the Zeiss g2 2.8 24-70 on the lea-5 and A1

I always used to pack a wide angle prime just in case, they don't add too much weight but are there if you need them.

I use the Zeiss 135mm f1.8 Prime on the A1 with EA-5 mount adaptor. I've not had an issue or felt any heat or noticed any change since the update.
I wonder if the motor in your lens was failing and making excessive demands on the camera. Either way, sorry to hear of that's the end of use of trusted lens.

Angus as I said the lens was working perfectly no sign of missing focus or issues, no motor noise I had been taking shots turned off the camera and back on again no f-number reported and no motor or focus, that simple (y)

Do you have a camera that doesn't need the LEA to attach? I wonder if it's just that.

Yep Kev a99ii the ssm motor is shot same thing on that camera no focus and no f-number reported

That's a shame, and sods law that it happened on holiday.

Lovely pics. Sad for the loss of a favourite lens.
