Had a free moment on the weekend to admire my orchids and decided to take a few pics with my a6400 and a Sigma 16mm. The sigma really does a great job of close focusing.

For this first shot, I had a white reflector below and filtered sunshine coming from window on the right.

And for maximum drama, I misted it with water and threw on a vignette filter...

I should say that for that last one, I switched lenses because I wanted to isolate a single flower and still get good detail, so the Sigma was too wide for that last shot.

One thing that works for me, much to the annoyance of my wife: Orchids grow well in the bathroom if you've got good light. Every time you run the shower, the humid air is very much appreciated by these flowers which come from warm humid climates. The white orchid in the shots above is actually sitting in my bathtub at the moment lol
