Good morning everyone,
Yesterday I took a walk around Portmore Reservoir, we had some snow flurries, this helped to create some nice flat conditions.
With this in mind I decided to photograph in monochrome as this weather suits this...and this is my current assignment with The School of Photography.
As I walked around the reservoir through the woodland, I came to a large area that had previously been a pine tree plantation, it had recently been cleared of the pine trees allowing me to see a different perspective of the silver birch trees.
I was pleased to see that none of the native species of trees had been removed.
"Reaching"
I love this pair of trees and to me it conveys the tree is reaching over to get some water. I used a long exposure to simplify the water which helps to bring out the structure of these beautiful trees.
"White Line"
I loved this dusting of snow running along the edge of the reservoir, it creates a lovely leading line back to the trees.
"Family Affair"
This was the first composition that caught my eye, standing tall on the edge of the clearing.
I thought it resembled a family out for a walk.
"Pulled in Both Direction"
I saw this arrangement of the branches which conveyed as if the Y shaped branch was being pulled in both directions from the branches of either side.
"Dysfunctional"
With all the different structure of this arrangement of trees gave a dysfunctional look to them...you can also see where I picked out the composition of the previous image.
