Sony A9 II Question on resetting image numbers

OK...probably a dumb question but I have not been able to find a definitive answer in searching around as well as (gasp) reading the manual.
Is there any way to reset the image numbers on the a9II back to zero for each shoot? Other than doing the full camera settings reset, which I'm not even sure would accomplish this, and which would be very clumsy and I don't wanna go that route. I have searched high and low but cannot seem to find a way to do it. Can this be done, and if so - how?

You can set the file name template so I'd guess changing that would start numbering at zero.

Thanks for your reply! And what I figured out to do is to set the File Naming option to "Reset". That way when you format a card, it does reset to zero. I use this when shooting sorority & fraternity headshots, since it's a pain to write down 4 or 5 digit numbers for each person each series.
I just need to remember to set it back to "series" when shooting sports and other stuff, because if you leave it on Reset you get multiple same numbers, as well as ones appended by "A", "B", etc. It's just kind of a pain, and I think something that is missing from the many options these cameras have

I don't know much about 9ii, but seems I recall its ability to attach audio to individual photos (unless I heard that wrong, hard to believe that's possible). Would recording audio info on each headshot be a useful way of ID'ing people? Just a thought.

Thanks for your reply! Actually the a9ii DOES have the ability to do a short voice recording that is attached to the image file, and it works wonderfully well for me, as I sometimes use it for identifying sports shots.
However, the shoots I was referring to as far as the renumbering goes, there may be 200-300 kids, and I don't know their names so we just go with the image numbers. However, I did figure out that if you go into the file numbers settings, and choose "reset", it will reset back to zero each time you format a card. So that's what I'm doing with those, and it's working out well. For most everything else I just let the numbers continue to increase, but it's helpful to have shorter image numbers on those composite headshot shoots!

This may not be what you are seeking but might help. If you reformat the SD card it will restart numbering. If you delete pics from the SD card (after copying to hard or SSD) then the SD card numbering starts with the next number as soon as you start shooting. This has been helpful to me.

No, it doesn't. If you reformat the card, and image numbering is set to series, it will continue with the next number.

I format my cards every time (it just clears the directory, so it reduces wear on the card to empty it this way instead of deleting the images), and all my Sony bodies (and other brands, too) continue numbering. I would notice immediately if they did not.

What made you think it would reset? Perhaps you should check if you have Reset selected in your camera.

By reducing wear, is it because the change (of formatting) is made in index only, instead of flipping cells? Thus using less voltage that stresses card?

Question: What makes card occasionally start a new root folder? Mine does but don't know why.

With the version 3.0 firmware update, Sony has finally listened to those of us that have been asking for a way to reset the image number. Well, sort of listened. The camera DOES now have the option to reset to zero the image number manually, and it works great. Not desirable, and not not what several of us had asked for, is the fact that when you do reset the image number, it also creates a new folder on the card and the newly created images go into that folder.
It's not a huge deal, and it's nice to finally be able to reset that number, especially for my purposes, but the new folder created each time is unnecessary.
But it's great to know that Sony IS listening to users!

It usually starts a new folder when it goes from image 9999 to 0001. Does that match your experience?

If you format the card, I would expect it to go back to one root folder.
