Hi all,

When using the monitor turned around and pushed into the camera to access the menu, I often go to using the EVF to film something, or check the changes I have made.
However, I have a big nose and it always touches the screen when I look through the EVF through my left eye.
This engages Subject Tracking based on where my nose touches the screen. So before filming I have to press the button in the middle of the circle dial to cancel Subject Tracking which is very very annoying...
Is there anyway to shut off the screen when you put something up to the EVF quick enough to stop the Subject Tracking being engaged by my huge nose please!

(BTW Sony, I +hate+ the monitor on the Sony A6700!
I much prefer the A6600 version that can fold up from the bottom a bit. At no point do I ever wish to have a screen that folds out to the side.
So I never using the screen when filming wildlife, always the EVF.
I'm ether handheld or on a video head attached firmly to my vehicle door. A sideways monitor can't be seen accurately in the bright sunshine, gets covered in dust and makes any movement very awkward and any many other reasons....!)

I don't remember which setting I changed, but I have my A6700 setup so that I can fold the screen inwards and in that config I rely on the EVF only.... ah here is the thread: https://www.alphashooters.com/community/threads/screen-turned-in-turns-camera-off.8948/

Now there is also a setting that allows you to dictate what screen touch does under normal operation, in fact I think you can even turn off the subject tracking. I will look for that setting. Would that solve your issue?

1. I hardly ever use touch on my a7iv, but that is partly because of the joystick, which you don't have.

2. There are two functions, IIRC, touch screen and touch pad. You'll need to check for your model, but it is possible that enabling only one or none may help you.

3. I have a button set to toggle touch on/off. Actually I use it in the menus more than in photography. I keep it off almost all of the time, but it is only a touch away if I want it. Probably available for the Fn display too.

Yes, I'm using different cameras, but I think that it's all much the same alpha stuff.

I have the same problem and I’ve had good luck with this kiorafoto extended eye cup. It keeps my nose just far enough away so that it doesn’t touch the LCD screen and doesn’t get in the way of articulating the screen. It’s made of soft silicone so I’ve had no problems squeezing my A6700 in a tight bag or sling with it installed.
